Position Overview:

The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Project Manager I supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction materials testing projects that contribute to safe, high-quality, and sustainable infrastructure. In this early-career project management role, you will assist with day-to-day project oversight—helping ensure work is delivered on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with client requirements and industry standards.

Working alongside senior project managers and technical staff, you will coordinate field personnel and laboratory testing, communicate with clients and contractors, track project progress, and support budget and performance management. This role is ideal for individuals looking to grow from hands-on field or lab experience into a more client-facing project management position.

In addition to supporting project execution, you will begin developing client relationships, identifying project opportunities, and contributing to proposal and scope development efforts. This is a strong opportunity for someone eager to build both technical and business acumen, with a clear path toward becoming a client-facing, revenue-generating Project Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Support project management activities from proposal through completion, helping ensure scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are achieved under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through ongoing communication and field presence; proactively identify and communicate new project opportunities.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by supporting client outreach, identifying leads, and partnering with senior staff to help secure new work.
  • Assist in—and progressively take ownership of—developing project estimates, proposals, and scopes of work, contributing to successful project wins.
  • Coordinate daily project activities, including scheduling field technicians and support staff to meet project demands efficiently.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients and contractors on routine matters, ensuring clear communication and escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Track project progress, budgets, and performance metrics; support revenue tracking and overall project financial health.
  • Review field and laboratory data for accuracy and compliance with applicable standards (ASTM, ACI, ICC) under senior PM oversight.
  • Perform field inspections, testing, and assist with special inspections as needed to support project execution.
  • Review and approve timesheets, field reports, and basic project documentation for accuracy and timely submission.
  • Participate in team meetings and training; provide guidance and informal mentorship to field technicians.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to company protocols and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements on job sites.
  • Prepare and support delivery of routine project reports and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, laboratory, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities Note:

They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. • Certifications: Certifications in relevant testing or inspection areas (e.g., ACI, ICC, ATTI, Nuclear Safety) preferred, or willingness to obtain.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction materials testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO) and the ability to interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
