Position Scope: The Hospice Aide is responsible for performing and/or assisting the patient with personal care activities as prescribed on the Hospice Aide plan of care while working under the supervision of an RN.
Essential Functions:
Performs and/or assists the patient with personal care activities:
- Bed bath, shower, or tub bath
- Skin care
- Back rub
- Hair and nail care
- Oral hygiene
- Catheter care
Assists the patient with the use of:
- Bedpan
- Bedside commode
- Emptying a catheter
Assists the patient into a wheelchair or assists the patient to walk if able
Assist the patient with range of motion exercises, turning and positioning a patient when ordered
Performs and/or assists the patient/family with light housekeeping in the area where patient care is provided
Reports patient status changes to the interdisciplinary team as needed
Maintains current and accurate documentation
Education and Work Experience:
High School graduate, preferred
Proof of current nursing assistant certification
Minimum one (1) year experience
Valid driver's license and automobile insurance, and reliable transportation
Certification and Licenses: Licensure in West Virginia and Ohio
Work Environment and/or Physical Demands: The Hospice Aide sits, stands, bends, pushes and pulls, twist, stretches drives, and lifts intermittently throughout the day. The Hospice Aide must have sufficient strength to turn, lift, and assist patients.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and possession of a valid driver's license.
