Job Description
The CNA/Direct Care Giver provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. The CNA encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides for a meaningful experience for all residents.ResponsibilitiesMaintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs).Report incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to the appropriate individuals (e.g., HCC, RN/LPN, or ED) and complete all appropriate documentation.Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds and cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining rooms, and other areas as directed by the supervisor.Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance and emergency alerts.Remain calm, professional, and competent during emergency situations.Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.Follow all confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.Assist residents to and from the dining room and to and from scheduled activities.Check on residents and ensure attendance at meals and activities.Check on residents who are ill and report their status or concerns to the appropriate individuals; document appropriately when necessary.Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.Assist new residents with the move-in transition by providing emotional support and helping residents become comfortable in their new environment.Report all resident changes and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record.Notify family members as directed.RequirementsMust possess a current CNA license from the state in which the community is located and remain in good standing with the Board of Nursing.Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Must be organized and able to work effectively with all levels of personnel.Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow the instructions of the supervisor.Must be polite, respectful, and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or carry up to 25 lbs.MustWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected status.
