JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of CNC machine tools and facility systems.
This position supports production by maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of advanced CNC equipment, including FIVES Giddings & Lewis, Mazak, Toyoda, PAMA, and Parpas machines. The technician will also perform facility maintenance duties, including but not limited to facility repairs, inspections, and service as required to support production needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and CNC control system issues on machine tools.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to maximize machine uptime and reliability.
Maintain and repair:
FIVES Giddings & Lewis CNC machines
Mazak CNC machines
Toyoda CNC machines
PAMA CNC machines
Parpas CNC machines
Troubleshoot CNC controls, servo systems, spindle drives, motors, encoders, feedback systems, and associated automation equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
Perform machine alignments, calibrations, ball-bar testing, and accuracy verification as required.
Coordinate with OEM service providers and production personnel during major repairs, upgrades, and equipment installations.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and equipment history within the CMMS system.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and operational performance.
Maintain facility infrastructure, including:
Electrical distribution systems
Lighting systems
Compressed air systems
Building structures
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on facility equipment and support systems.
Assist with equipment relocation, rigging, installation, and facility improvement projects.
Respond to emergency maintenance situations and production downtime events.
Obtain and maintain CICB certification as an Overhead Crane Inspector and Jib Crane Inspector (training provided by the Company).
Conduct scheduled inspections of overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes, hoists, lifting devices, and related equipment.
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement activities.
Promote and maintain a safe work environment through adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
Perform other work-related tasks as required or assigned by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a CNC machining or heavy manufacturing environment.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency call-ins as needed.
Strong working knowledge of:
CNC machine tool maintenance
Fanuc, Siemens, and Mazatrol controls
Electrical systems (480V, 240V, and control voltages)
Hydraulics and pneumatics
Mechanical power transmission systems
Bearings, gearboxes, lubrication systems, and machine geometry
Industrial controls and automation
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, including multimeters, alignment equipment, and vibration analysis tools.
Working knowledge of CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.
Valid driver''s license and the ability to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other maintenance equipment, or the ability to obtain certification.
