CNC Machinist

PGS Worldwide is seeking CNC Machinists in Aiken, South Carolina for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will perform complex CNC machining, setup, first-run prove-outs, precision inspection, and troubleshooting on high-complexity metal components.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of experience operating 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC equipment in a metal-cutting or metalworking manufacturing environment.

• Experience setting up and operating major CNC machine tools.

• Ability to read and interpret complex, multi-page machining blueprints.

• Strong understanding and application of GD&T.

• Ability to perform advanced shop mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

• Experience using precision measuring and layout instruments.

• Ability to perform complex setups and align workpieces to extremely close tolerances.

• Ability to troubleshoot tooling and machining issues independently.

• Ability to assist with programming changes as needed to mitigate production delays or risks.

Preferred Skills

• 3+ years setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.

• Associate degree or technical training in Machine Tool Technology.

• Experience with Fanuc or Siemens controls.

• Familiarity with NX and Mastercam.

• Experience using micrometers, thread gauges, and other precision inspection tools.

• Experience operating hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts.

• Experience collaborating with tooling or manufacturing engineering on custom fixtures and tooling.

What You'll Do

• Machine complex components from process sheets, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

• Perform complex machine setups, first-run machining, and process prove-outs.

• Manufacture parts to extremely close tolerances.

• Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments.

• Apply GD&T, feeds and speeds calculations, and advanced shop mathematics.

• Work with manufacturing engineering to improve machining methods and processes.

• Troubleshoot tooling, setup, dimensional, and quality issues.

• Clean, deburr, load, and unload parts using appropriate tooling and material-handling equipment.

• Maintain manufacturing and quality documentation.

• Assist and train other machinists on complex setups and machining operations.

Work Schedule / Shift

• 3/12 schedule

• 5:00 AM 5:30 PM

• Approximately 36 hours per week

Pay

• $28.74 per hour.
