CNC Milling Machinist – Aerospace (Overhaul & Repair)

1st & 2nd Shift Available
Pay & Shift

  • Up to $39/hour (DOE)

  • 1st Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm

  • 2nd Shift: 3:30pm – 12:00am (10% shift differential)
Company Overview
Our client is an aerospace manufacturer with over 50 years of experience producing complex machined components and sub-assemblies for the aerospace and land turbine engine industries. Known for world-class quality and cost-effective solutions, They have earned a strong reputation across its customer base.

The organization operates two distinct divisions:

  • Overhaul & Repair – An FAA-regulated repair station focused exclusively on repair and overhaul of worn or defective aerospace components (no fabrication).

  •  (OEM) – A fabrication-focused machine shop working from raw materials to produce new aerospace components.

This role supports the Overhaul & Repair side of the business.
Position Summary
The CNC Milling Machinist will set up and operate CNC milling machines to repair and overhaul complex aerospace components. This is a hands-on role requiring strong blueprint interpretation skills, aerospace experience, and the ability to diagnose and repair worn or defective parts.
Must-Have Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC milling experience

  • Experience setting up CNC milling machines

  • Overhaul / repair (rework) experience strongly preferred

  • Aerospace machining experience required

  • Fluent in blueprint reading and GD&T

  • Experience working with large aerospace parts preferred
Equipment & Environment

  • 5-axis CNC milling machines

  • Mostly Okuma machines with Fanuc controls

  • High-mix, low-volume aerospace repair environment
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines; perform trial runs to verify accuracy

  • Work from travelers, operation sheets, blueprints, drawings, manuals, and specifications

  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, tooling, and materials

  • Verify finished parts meet specifications using precision measuring instruments

  • Ensure proper CNC/DNC program operation and adjust controls as needed

  • Troubleshoot machining issues in collaboration with engineering and production teams

  • Maintain accountability by properly completing travelers and shop floor documentation

  • Handle components carefully to prevent damage

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines

  • Follow all safety and housekeeping standards

  • Perform additional duties as required
Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 3+ years CNC setup and operation experience in an aerospace environment

  • Prior experience with turbine engine components or overhaul/repair work preferred
Physical Requirements

  • Regular standing and walking

  • Frequent use of hands for handling and operating equipment

  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching

  • Ability to lift or move components up to 50 lbs with assistance (hoist)

  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision
