Job Description

FieldBridge Energy seeks a Chesapeake, VA-based CNC Machinist to work for a global engineering company serving offshore energy and the U.S. Navy. Weekly pay + benefits.

Pay / Schedule: $28 - $35/hour | Monday - Friday, 2 PM - Midnight (five 10-hour shifts), some Saturdays | Weekly pay every Friday | Great opportunity for OT pay | At $32/hr and 55 hrs/week, for example, earn weekly paychecks of $2,000 gross.

Position Overview:
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire role with a Navy ship repair and submarine support operation. You will set up, program, and run CNC and manual machines to build one-off, build-to-print components.

Every submarine that sails for the U.S. Navy depends on parts machined to near-perfect precision, and this role puts you at the center of that work. In Chesapeake, you will turn blueprints into one-of-a-kind components, not mass-produced widgets. Each job brings new challenges, from HY-80 and HY-100 steel to stainless and Inconel, so no two days look alike. Your skill with CNC lathes and mills, tight tolerances, and careful inspection keeps critical submarine systems safe and ready. If you want meaningful, hands-on machining work with a clear path to the client’s direct payroll, this is it.

Machine one-off submarine components from HY-80, HY-100, stainless and Inconel on CNC lathes and mills, hold tight tolerances, and see your work support the U.S. Navy fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and edit CNC programs (lathe and mill) using G-code and CAM software
  • Set up, align, and secure workpieces, fixtures, and tooling on CNC and manual machines
  • Machine complex parts from submarine-grade alloys, choosing the right speeds, feeds, and tooling
  • Read and work from complex blueprints, drawings, and GD&T callouts
  • Inspect and document parts with micrometers, calipers, height and depth gauges, and indicators

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years machining complex submarine, aerospace, defense, nuclear, or similar critical components
  • Proven CNC programming skills (lathe and mill)
  • Ability to do full setup and run CNC and/or manual machines, edit programs, and set offsets
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
  • Strong shop math (fractions, decimals, basic trigonometry)
  • Skilled with precision measuring instruments and accurate documentation
  • Able to work independently with occasional supervision
  • Must be a U.S. citizen (not a dual citizen of any other country)
  • Willing to work the evening shift (2 PM - Midnight) and some Saturdays

Equal opportunity employer committed to workplace diversity and inclusion.
