CNC Machinist

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications to determine machining requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and setup procedures.

• Select, align, and secure workpieces using appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding methods.

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce parts according to specifications.

• Adjust machine settings, including speed, feed, depth, and cutting angles, as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.

• Monitor machine operations, identify potential issues, and make adjustments to prevent defects or out-of-tolerance conditions.

• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.

• Complete first-piece inspections and document inspection results as required.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following established safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Trade school, vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent machining education and experience.

• Three to five years of CNC machining experience preferred.

• General machining knowledge, including shop math, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and precision measurement.

• Experience with machine and tool probing.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work independently to meet quality and production requirements.

• High-speed machining experience preferred, particularly with spindle speeds of 16,000–27,000 RPM.

• Experience with Siemens 840D controls is a plus.

• Specialized experience with specific machining processes or equipment may be required for certain positions.
