The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating CNC lathes and metal additive machines (3D printer) to produce precision metal. This role involves reading technical drawings, setting up machinery, adjusting tools and fixtures, and ensuring components meet quality specifications. Work will be focused in both product development (prototype) and production settings.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines including mills, lathes (multi-axis), grinders, saws, and metal additive machines.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical instructions.
  • Setup equipment, including programming, tooling, offsets, and work holding, to meet technical specifications of the parts.
  • Load raw materials into machines and monitor machine operations.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines as needed.
  • Monitor equipment throughput and downtime to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety standards.
  • Document production data, quality checks, and machine performance.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve production issues.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T symbols.
  • Proficient with measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
