CNC Mill Setup Machinist

A day in the life

When you arrive at our Morgan Hill, CA facility, you step into a clean, modern shop built for precision work. You review the day’s work orders, study the prints, and plan your setup. Tooling is selected, offsets are dialed in, and the first article is cut on a state-of-the-art CNC mill. You verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, fine-tune feeds and speeds, and keep production flowing. Throughout the shift, you collaborate with teammates to streamline steps, troubleshoot any machine quirks, and keep the area safe and organized. Before you clock out, you document what you ran, how you ran it, and the measurements that prove it.

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC milling equipment to produce precision parts that meet specifications.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine tooling, setup, and machining sequence.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools to validate quality.
• Maintain and troubleshoot CNC mills to sustain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Partner with the team to improve processes and drive production efficiency.
• Follow safety procedures and keep your workstation orderly and clean.
• Document production steps and maintain accurate records of work performed.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or machining certification is a plus.
• Hands-on experience as a CNC mill machinist or in a closely related role.
• Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Solid understanding of CNC programming concepts and milling processes.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
