CNC Mill Setup Operator
Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday
Pay: $25-$30/hour
What You'll Be Doing
As a CNC Mill Setup Operator, you'll set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines to produce precision die components, fixtures, gages, and stamped metal parts. You'll prepare tooling and materials, load programs, make machine adjustments, and inspect parts to ensure quality, accuracy, and on-time production.
A Day in the Life
- Set up CNC milling machines using blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions.
- Load and verify programs, tooling, fixtures, and materials.
- Align workpieces and adjust machine settings to hold tight tolerances up to .0002".
- Read and interpret blueprints, die prints, and specifications.
- Design, build, and qualify fixtures for production machining.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, CMMs, and other precision measuring tools.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and coordinate with maintenance or engineering as needed.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and tool changes.
- Maintain setup, inspection, and production records.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
You're a Great Fit If You
- Have CNC mill setup and operation experience.
- Can read blueprints, technical drawings, and understand G-code/CAM software.
- Are proficient with precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Have strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Understand machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Are detail-oriented, quality-focused, and safety-minded.
- Work well independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
- 2-5 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Fixture design, setup, and qualification experience.
