Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to support production operations in an automotive manufacturing environment. This position will operate CNC machining centers, perform machine setups and tooling adjustments, complete quality checks, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain production documentation.
This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity. Candidates will start at $18.00/hour during the contract period. Upon successful completion of the contract, skills will be evaluated and tested to determine eligibility for a higher rate of pay.
Key Responsibilities
Operate machinery in various CNC machining centers
Set machine controls according to program and install fixtures
Perform machine setups, repair tooling, and troubleshoot machines within the assigned cell area
Make preliminary checks on first-piece production and adjust tools to maintain proper dimensions and overall part quality
Manually position and remove tools as prescribed
Perform quality checks on production as specified by Quality Control
Report quality defects to the Team Leader or Supervisor
Complete and update daily production paperwork, including production reports, PPLH, TAKT, scrap reports, and related documentation
Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principles
Actively participate in Elimination of Waste Team meetings
Support company goals and objectives
Troubleshoot CNC equipment and make necessary adjustments
Adjust robot positions using a teach pendant
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Approximately 2 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred
Working knowledge of CNC machining and troubleshooting
Experience with CNC machine setups and tooling adjustments
Ability to read and follow CNC programs and machine instructions
Experience performing quality checks using calipers and other workplace measurement equipment
Basic computer skills
Ability to use workplace equipment including SAP handheld scanners, calculators, printers, and calipers
Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to quality, safety, and production requirements
