Prepares and operates a computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine used in the production of parts.
Has knowledge on the operation of machine equipment and ensures that the machine works as programmed.
Representative Activities
Selects tools required to produce parts and prepares machines.
Loads parts onto fixtures and performs machining operation.
Checks finished part against blueprint, debugs and submits for approval.
Operates assigned (CNC) machine, or may work a related group of (CNC) machines of similar complexity.
Understands working properties of common metals, reads blueprints.
Unload finished products from the machine.
Maintain a clean, well-organized workstation.
May perform minor adjustments to machine and operating procedures to maintain quality.
Typically reports to a supervisor, team leader or superintendent within the production department.

Complexity
Operates a broad range of machines (up to 10), has multidiscipline experience. Can independently set up the installation of complex machines. May coach less experienced CNC operators
Quality control
May be involved in troubleshooting, analysis and feedback to the production process with the goal to increase production quality
