As a CNC/PLC and Robotics technician at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. Your primary responsibilities are to learn, maintain, troubleshoot and repair various machine issues for Superior Tire and Rubber operations. Our primary goal is to ensure equipment runs efficiently to maximize productivity and lifespan while minimizing downtime.
Essential Job Functions
Planning/Coordinating Work
- Review daily schedule with Team Leader or Supervisor at start of each shift to establish correct work orders and preventive maintenance tasks to be completed.
- Coordinate with Supervisor or Team Leader to confirm correct parts are available to complete assigned work orders.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Attend daily safety meetings.
- Perform daily crane, grinder, and lift inspections.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with team members, supervision, and other cross-functional teams to achieve production and maintenance goals; communicate effectively regarding work order status and any issues.
- Work directly with machine operators to diagnose equipment issues, gather information on fault conditions, and communicate findings to supervisor or senior technician.
- Work with production team members on root cause analysis to determine the cause of issues and provide feedback to prevent reoccurrence.
- Communicate with outside venders to assist in machine troubleshooting.
SPS Responsibilities
- Support production to remain On-Quality, On-Time & On-Cost.
- Follow the 5S principles: Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
- Look for ways to improve production efficiency and safety using SPS Practices.
- Keep your work area organized and ready for daily 5S inspections.
Working Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine checks, cleaning, and lubrication on motors, gears, CNC machines, and production equipment to prevent malfunctions before they occur.
- Repairs & Replacements: Disassemble machinery to remove defective parts and install new components using hand and power tools.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repair: Troubleshoot and perform mechanical repairs on CNC machines including diagnosing root causes of failures in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair: Troubleshoot and perform electrical repairs on CNC machines; understand AC & DC circuits and read electrical prints to diagnose and resolve electrical faults.
- Fabrication: Use machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and welding tools to create or repair metal parts.
- PLC & Robotics: Apply basic PLC and robotic knowledge to assist in diagnosing control system issues; escalate complex programming or logic changes to Level III technician.
- Calibrations: Set up and calibrate equipment and machinery according to engineering specifications with assistance from senior staff as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed maintenance logs and reports through Asset Essentials and OneNote.
- General Maintenance Support: Assist with basic maintenance tasks across departments when needed to support overall plant uptime.
- Training: Instruct and mentor Maintenance Technicians Level I on preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and documentation.

- Weekends as needed.
- Required to work onsite 100% of the time.

- Occasional travel in the Warren area.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance role OR repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machines and manufacturing processes preferred.
- Level II preferred training: PLCs for Non-Programmers; Electrical Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance II; Electrical Ladder Drawings, Schematics, and Diagrams.
Competencies/Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and CNC control circuit prints.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills on CNC equipment.
- Ability to operate Bridgeport mill and manual lathe.
- Basic PLC and robotic knowledge; ability to assist in diagnosing control system issues.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and ability to use measuring tools.
- Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
