This role will support new product introduction, quoting and estimating, Lean Manufacturing initiatives, process optimization, and production troubleshooting. The successful candidate will manage projects from initial planning and process development through validation and final handoff to the production team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize CNC programs for 3 2-axis, 4-axis, and true 5-axis milling, as well as 7- and 8-axis turning equipment.
  • Utilize CAM software, preferably CAMWorks or Mastercam, to create efficient toolpaths and machining strategies.
  • Develop machining processes for aerospace alloys, specialty metals, stainless steel, and aluminum while maintaining tight dimensional tolerances.
  • Establish machining parameters, feeds and speeds, workholding methods, and tooling selections.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including setup sheets, fixture drawings, and work instructions.
  • Design or specify custom fixtures, tooling, and workholding solutions for complex part geometries.
  • Support quoting, cost estimating, process design, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with machinists during machine setups, first-article inspections, and CNC program prove-outs.
  • Collaborate with Quality to resolve nonconformances and conduct root-cause analysis using methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and 8D.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial concept and process development through validation and handoff to production.
  • Support production planning and manufacturing operations using ERP/MRP systems.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and CNC/G-code programming.
  • Experience with CAMWorks and/or Mastercam; CAMWorks experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, workholding, and fixture design.
  • Experience with manufacturing process development, quoting, estimating, and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, automation technologies, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools; Epicor experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage projects independently and coordinate successful transitions to production.
