CNC VTL Machinist Build Precision. Solve Problems. Make an Impact. We are looking for an experienced CNC VTL Machinist to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role for a skilled machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality, precision components and enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working with complex machining processes. If you have strong VTL machining experience, Fanuc control knowledge, and a solid understanding of aerospace tolerances and blueprint requirements, we want to hear from you. What You’ll Do Set up and operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), mills, and grinders to machine precision aerospace components. Set up machines, tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to engineering drawings and work instructions. Read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Adjust machine offsets based on inspection results, work orders, tooling conditions, and changing production requirements. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and programming issues to keep production moving. Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity. Use precision measuring equipment and thickness gauges to verify parts meet required specifications and tolerances. Select and properly use cutting tools, boring bars, inserts, and tool-holding devices. Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, cycle times, tooling performance, and overall part quality. Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve production and technical issues. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. Perform additional machining and production responsibilities as needed. What We’re Looking For Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or another precision manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience setting up and operating VTL equipment. Experience with Fanuc controls is required. Strong blueprint-reading skills and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Strong working knowledge of precision measuring equipment and inspection tools. Working knowledge of cutting tools, boring bars, inserts, and tool-holding systems. Ability to follow detailed manufacturing planning, work instructions, and engineering requirements. Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills. Ability to perform shop math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, geometry, and basic algebra used in the fabrication of precision aerospace components. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, production requirements, and unexpected machining challenges. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to work flexible shifts and schedules based on production needs. Preferred Qualifications CNC programming experience. Previous experience operating Giddings & Lewis (G&L), Mori Seiki, Shibaura, or Haas turning equipment. Previous experience machining tight-tolerance aerospace or defense components. The Right Person for This Role We are looking for more than someone who can simply operate a machine. We want a machinist who understands the machining process, recognizes when something isn't right, and knows how to make the adjustments necessary to produce a quality part. You should be comfortable working independently, solving problems on the shop floor, and taking ownership of your work from setup through final inspection.
