The assistant coach will assist with the organization and supervision of the program including budgeting, ordering, inventory, player supervision, awards, team rosters, and equipment management. The spring track & field season runs from April 1, 2027 through June 6, 2027.\n \nOUR DISTRICT\n \nThe Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,200 students enrolled K-12. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:\n\n Assists with organization and supervision of the program including budgeting, ordering, inventory, player supervision, awards, team rosters, and equipment management\n Participates in athletic registrations\n Helps with issuing and care of sports equipment during and after season\n May help compile eligibility lists and other reports\n Performs related duties as assigned\n \nSKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS\n\n Working knowledge of specific sports fitness safety methods and techniques\n Ability to commit to an athletic program that fosters the self-worth and self-esteem of all participants\n Ability to teach sports theory and technique\n Ability to model good sportsmanship at all times\n Ability to promote teamwork, fair play, and success\n Ability to willingly support and foster the mission of the Sultan School District\n Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administration\n Ability to communicate, implement, and uphold district athletic standards\n \nSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS\n\n Successful coaching experience in appropriate sport\n Continuing Education Standards \u2013 30 hours prior to the 3rd season of coaching for new coaches and 15 hours every three years thereafter\n Must have excellent moral character\n Must have excellent organizational and motivational skills\n Valid/current CPR/1st Aid card maintained for the duration of this job\n Type II Driver's License or willingness and ability to obtain\n Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance\n I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act\n Safe Schools trainings (obtain prior to season starting \u2013 district provided)\n \nWORK ENVIRONMENT\n \nWork is typically performed outdoors; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.\n \nEVALUATION\n \nThe Assistant Coach shall be evaluated within 20 days of the close of the sports season by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions.\n \nCONDITIONS\n \nEMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION.
