    Coder Technical Charging

    Job Description

    Charge Reviewer's primary responsibilities include the assignment of facility charge selection for emergency department records, assignment of modifiers, contact with medical staff, nursing, and ancillary departments.

    Department: Medical Record Management

    Hours: Full time, 40 hours/week

    Shift: 1st shift

    Required: High School Diploma, CPC within 1 year of hire, Graduate of accredited LPN program

    Pay: Based on experience, starting at $22.72

    Responsibilities

    Assign charge codes and facility charge category assignment for emergency department visits timely (defined per department standards)., Contact ED nursing staff in a professional, tactful manner, if required documentation is not available on record, thru personal contact, e-mail, and/or telephone as needed. Refers charts to ED Director, if there is a question regarding the procedures, charge codes, modifiers., Develop and maintain metrics to monitor accuracy of charge code assignment, improvement of revenue capture, Ensure that emergency department charge master assigned CPT codes and supply charges are based on supporting documentation as required by federal, state compliance guidelines., Ensure that emergency department CPT charge master codes (hard codes) are assigned within established principles, official guidelines and regulations for coding to provide the optimum reimbursement allowable under the federal and state payment systems., Enter charges for facility into the electronic system. Productivity timely (defined per department standards), Review emergency department CCI and MN edits and determine appropriate action within next business day
