Job Title: Coding Compliance Auditor
Location: Remote (must reside in the U.S.; not available in NY, CA, HI, or AK)
Type: Contract
Duration: ~2 months (through approximately January 12, 2027)
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $40.82 per hour

Summary

This position is responsible for the accurate coding of claims by providers. Under supervision, you will research and analyze itemized bills and/or medical records for facility and inpatient claims, validate the coding, and audit documentation to ensure compliance with the organization’s coding procedures and standards per CMS Coding Guidelines and Official ICD-10 Coding Guidelines. You will also recommend coding corrections as needed.

Responsibilities

• Audit itemized bills and/or medical records for facility and inpatient claims.
• Validate coding accuracy and ensure adherence to CMS and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
• Identify issues and recommend appropriate coding corrections.
• Document findings clearly and communicate updates professionally.

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree or 2+ years of experience working in the health insurance industry.
• 2+ years of medical coding through medical record abstraction.
• Active national coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA, including one or more of the following:
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P)
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
