Summary:
This position performs the administrative functions associated with uninsured motorist judgments assigned to the Uninsured Division of Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF). Primary responsibilities include preparing and executing court filings, conducting legal searches related to collections of judgments, contact with outside counsel as needed. Ability to operate highly independently is expected.
Essential Functions:
Process new debt collection files, including skip tracing and thorough file review for accuracy to align with court records.
Submit court e-filings including motions, amendments of party names, and others as required to have consistency with claim file and court records.
Locate estates for deceased debtors and file estate claims.
Locate property owned by debtors and file property liens.
Review debt collection files for write-off recommendations when appropriate.
Submit miscellaneous filings to courts such as renewals of judgments, motions to amend debtor names by interlineation and requests to correct any incorrect information found in the court records of our judgments.
Identify refunds due to debtors.
Submit internal check requests for miscellaneous filings, service and attorney fees, and refunds to debtors.
Compile monthly status report of collection files.
Perform other duties as required.
Competencies:
High level of organization, including tracking and meeting due dates
Proficiency with multiple data search engines used for the purposes of skip tracing
Familiarity with legal language and court rules and regulations for the filing of motions
Strong research skills in reference to out of state court rules and regulations for the filing of property liens and estate claims
Ability to work in UCJ Oracle system
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Good written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelors degree preferred.
2+ years experience in an administrative or support role

hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee
must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to perform the essential
functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions:
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing
and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting
and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by
noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office
equipment available
