Position Description

Job Purpose

Commercial Accounting Manager prepares and oversees preparation of monthly financial statements for all Commercial entities to provide management with accurate and timely financial information. Manage and oversee the daily operations of BCS Accounting, Services and Field Support Services Accounting.

RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS

  • Prepare monthly financial reports for executive leadership, including project profitability, overhead allocation, and business performance trends for all Tellepsen entities and joint ventures.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements for Building Concrete Solutions.
  • Review monthly Project Fee Reports for accuracy and inclusion in financial reporting.
  • Oversee the monthly closing process to meet financial statement deadlines.
  • Review and coordinate backlog and job forecasts with Operations.
  • Coordinate auditors' requests for preliminary and year end audits.
  • Assist Project Teams with job cost, owner billings and monthly reporting.
  • Review contract setup and terms.
  • Lead the preparation of annual gross margin budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, systems, and workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Collaborate with operations, estimating, and other teams to streamline processes and reporting.
  • Assist with and/or lead special projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes, systems, and workflow.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Master's degree a plus
  • 6 - 7 years prior management experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area
  • Experience in Construction Accounting a plus
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Deep understanding of construction accounting principles, including WIP schedules, job costing, inter/intracompany eliminations, and percent-of-completion revenue recognition
  • Expert proficiency in the use of technology software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, GC Pay, LCP Tracker, construction-specific ERP systems, etc.) Prophix
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Viewpoint Vista and pVault preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and applicable tax regulations for construction projects
  • Expert knowledge of financial data analytics
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating across departments and presenting to senior leadership
