The Commercial Lines Account Manager manages a portfolio of commercial clients, ensuring their insurance programs are appropriately structured, competitively priced, and proactively serviced. This role combines client relationship management, technical insurance expertise, and operational support to deliver an exceptional client experience while supporting account retention and growth.
Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Client Service & Account Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, addressing coverage questions, service requests, and policy inquiries.
- Conduct account reviews to identify coverage gaps, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and responsive service.
Policy Administration & Coverage Analysis
- Prepare, process, and review new business, renewals, endorsements, certificates, and cancellations.
- Analyze client exposures and recommend appropriate coverage solutions.
- Ensure policy accuracy and compliance with agency and carrier guidelines.
Renewals, Marketing & Carrier Relations
- Develop renewal strategies based on client needs, market conditions, and carrier appetite.
- Market accounts, negotiate terms with carriers, and present coverage proposals to clients.
- Partner with producers to support client retention and account growth.
Documentation, Compliance & Team Support
- Maintain accurate client records within the agency management system.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, agency, and carrier requirements.
- Track policy activity, deadlines, and outstanding items to ensure timely completion.
- Collaborate with producers, account executives, and service teams to deliver seamless client service.
- Support client onboarding, account transitions, and agency initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Active Property & Casualty insurance license.
- Experience in commercial property and casualty insurance account management.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lines coverages, including General Liability, Property, Auto, Workers' Compensation, Umbrella, and Cyber.
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
Preferred
- Professional designations such as CIC, CISR, CRM, or ARM.
- Experience with mid-market or large commercial accounts.
