Commercial Baker
Overview:
Marczyk Fine Foods prides itself on being a world-class, neighborhood market. The Baker is responsible for producing the full lineup of Marczyks signature, scratch-made breads and sweets alongside a dynamic and diverse set of crew members. A Marczyk Baker must be able to diligently meet all production demands while maintaining the highest quality standards for execution, professionalism, and teamwork. The bakery day is broken into two shifts of early morning and afternoon slots. While experience is always appreciated, we hire for attitude and aptitude while training for excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work efficiently and independently in all aspects of handmade bread and sweets production (sizing formulas, pre-mixing, pre-shaping, shaping, baking, etc.)
- Responsible for ensuring all bakery items are properly packaged and labeled for sale
- Meet daily market demands for multiple locations with a team that can grow
- Adheres to the production schedule and communicates with culinary director if unable to execute on time
- Consistently deliver the highest quality product demonstrating integrity in process and technique
- Responsible for department security and safety
- Monitors and maintains a maniacally clean and sanitary work environment
- Works with the culinary director to monitor equipment ensuring good working order and timely maintenance
- Monitors food supplies and purchases systematically to ensure proper inventory turnover and ingredient quality
- Maintains a professional and open line of communication with crew members
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with vendors, staff and crew members to create a fun work environment
- Thoughtfully considers advice and cooperates with recommendations made by managers and fellow crew members on actions designed to improve department operations and financial results
- Follows all Health Department standards, guidelines, and regulations
- Handles inherent work stress professionally and positively
Physical Requirements: - Must repeatedly lift and/or move 50 pounds or more
- Constant lifting and bending
- Constant repetitive motion of wrists, hands, fingers, and joints
- Repeatedly stoops, kneels, bends, balances, reaches, crawls, and crouches while performing work duties
- Required to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time
- Able to display athletic attributes throughout each workday
Qualifications: - Commercial Baking experience is preferred
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Creativity in problem solving
