    POSITION SUMMARY 

    The Communications & PR Student Assistant is a federal work study position designed to support the College’s public relations and communications initiatives. Students in this role will be assigned to cover stories and updates related to specific academic majors, programs, or departments while also assisting with administrative and creative tasks that strengthen campus-wide communications. This position is ideal for students interested in journalism, marketing, digital media, or public relations. 

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
    • Research, write, and edit stories, announcements, and spotlights related to assigned majors, programs, or campus initiatives. 
    • Assist with social media content creation, photography, and event coverage. 
    • Support the drafting and distribution of press releases, newsletters, and digital campaigns. 
    • Maintain organized records, files, and communications databases. 
    • Assist with updating campus websites, calendars, and media content as directed. 
    • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, correspondence, and project coordination. 
    • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to gather content for publications and digital media. 
    • Ensure all communications align with College branding and style guidelines. 
    • Perform other communications-related tasks as assigned. 

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Must be a current student enrolled in the federal work study program and in good academic standing. 
    • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. 
    • Interest in journalism, media, marketing, or public relations preferred. 
    • Dependable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines. 
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and peers. 
    • Experience with social media platforms, digital tools, or graphic design (preferred but not required). 
    • Professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail. 

    WORK SCHEDULE
    • Flexible schedule based on project deadlines and events, with some evening or weekend assignments possible. 
    • Hours are contingent upon federal work study award allocation and student class schedule. 

    COMPENSATION

    Hourly rate based on federal work study guidelines.
