Communications Clerk (Full-Time)

General Description
Under the direction of the Clerk of the Board, the Communications Clerk is responsible for coordinating communications and public information activities for the Board of County Commissioners. The position prepares and distributes public communications, maintains the County Commissioners' website and digital content, assists with media relations, develops informational materials, supports public meetings and community outreach, and ensures communications are accurate, timely, accessible, and consistent with County policies. The position also provides administrative support to the Clerk of the Board and maintains appropriate public records.
Essential Job Functions
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Public Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to five years of progressively responsible communications, public information, marketing, or administrative experience preferred.
Experience in local government or the public sector preferred.
Valid Ohio driver's license.
Knowledge
Knowledge of public communications, media relations, website content management systems, social media platforms, records management, Microsoft Office applications, and principles of local government.
Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; prepare professional publications; manage multiple deadlines; exercise sound judgment; maintain confidentiality when appropriate; and establish effective working relationships with elected officials, employees, media representatives, and the public.
Other Requirements
Regular and predictable attendance; professionalism in all interactions; ability to attend evening meetings or community events as needed. May be called upon occasionally during evening and/or weekend hours.

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.

Ability to get along with others.
