Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a Communications Manager to join its Charlotte, NC office. This position provides strategic communications, media relations, and public relations support for Public Affairs clients. Working closely with team members, the Communications Manager develops content, monitors and analyzes media activity, and executes communications deliverables aligned with client plans and team strategy.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Communications and Client Support
- Monitor current communications techniques, tools, and practices and apply modern approaches to client plans and deliverables.
- Collaborate with the communications team on client presentations, updates, and tactical execution of communications strategies.
- Conduct research and prepare messaging, collateral, and other materials for use by Public Affairs professionals.
- Support clients and the team at internal and external events, presentations, and community meetings.
- Maintain flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week when needed to accomplish essential duties and maintain regular in-person attendance
Media Relations, Monitoring, and Reporting
- Produce recurring reports that capture media, thought leadership, stakeholder, and other communications activity and measure client performance across daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual periods.
- Conduct media research and analysis regarding current and emerging client-relevant issues.
- Maintain real-time client media monitoring and reporting in accordance with established formats and deadlines.
- Maintain media relationships, manage inquiries, develop story pitches, and coordinate media accommodations for news conferences and events.
- Maintain current media lists, reporter contact information, and coverage analyses for clients and the team.
Content Development and Executive Communications
- Draft media advisories, news releases, media statements, and online and social media content related to client matters.
- Draft firm-to-client, client-to-employee, and client-to-third-party communications.
- Develop executive speeches, presentations, legislative testimony, white papers, talking points, and executive briefings.
- Ensure written deliverables are accurate, audience-appropriate, timely, and aligned with client objectives and team strategy.
Stakeholder and Digital Communications
- Produce and maintain stakeholder lists with current contact information based on client needs.
- Advise on the effective use of social media platforms in public relations campaigns and provide social media monitoring as needed.
- Coordinate stakeholder, community, and digital communications activities with broader client and team priorities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in communications and/or public relations.
- Political or campaign management experience preferred.
- Experience supporting public affairs clients or complex stakeholder communications desired.
Physical Requirements:
- The work is primarily sedentary.
- It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
