Communications & Marketing Director

Job Summary

Whatcom Community Foundation is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Communications & Marketing to lead the organization's communications, brand, and marketing efforts during an exciting period of growth and community impact.

As WCF's first dedicated communications and marketing leader, you will develop and implement strategies that strengthen donor engagement, elevate community leadership initiatives, and amplify the Foundation's mission across Whatcom County. This is an opportunity for an experienced communications professional who enjoys both big-picture strategy and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead WCF's communications and marketing strategy, brand stewardship, and storytelling.
• Develop audience engagement strategies across digital, print, email, events, and media channels.
• Oversee website, social media, email marketing, and public-facing content.
• Partner across teams to support fundraising, donor engagement, grantmaking, and community leadership initiatives.
• Build communications systems, workflows, and measurement practices.
• Manage external communications partners, including designers, writers, agencies, and other consultants.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success creating and implementing strategic communications plans.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration experience.
• Knowledge of digital marketing, websites, social media, email marketing, and analytics.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered communications.
