Position Title: Communications Specialist

Objective of the Position:
The Communications Specialist supports the district''s communications and public engagement efforts under the direction of the Communications Director. This role manages the district''s online platforms and social media presence, gathers content from schools and departments, and creates written, visual, and multimedia content that informs and engages students, families, staff, and the community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises student interns on projects, job duties, and quality of work. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization''s policies and applicable laws.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents, staff, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to interpret and utilize social media engagement data to inform and make recommendations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must be able to travel between school buildings, districts, and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

The employee is responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of others. Ability to operate camera and computer equipment is essential. Ability to transport equipment to event site, as needed.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quietT, but will vary occasionally. When visiting a building the noise level might be loud; in the office, quiet; and at meetings, moderate. The successful candidate will be required to work both indoors and outdoors, and will be exposed to the elements while working outside on an occasional basis. Regular office hours with occasional evenings/weekends for district events
