About this job

Non-union low-voltage / communications technician thinking about union work? This is a path to join IBEW Local Union No. 257 as a Communication Technician through a NECA member contractor in central Missouri.

NECA Recruiting will source and screen you, then — with your okay — send your resume and credentials to a member contractor. The contractor interviews, decides, offers, and handles onboarding and the union process.

What you will do

Voice, data, and video work — including planning, installation, testing, termination, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems and fiber optics; maintaining, servicing, testing, and repair of PBX and computer networking systems; and special systems such as security and access control, sound reinforcement, media retrieval, wireless/RF, and clock systems. The exact systems, project, and schedule depend on the contractor and the opening — your contractor will cover those details in the interview.

Requirements

Communication Technician level: a minimum of two years as a Level Three Intermediate Communication Technician (or equivalent), plus a passed NJATC equivalency exam administered by Local 257 or through independent third-party testing sanctioned by the NJATC, and qualified to perform all voice-data-video related tasks. Non-union technicians are welcome to apply.

Share any licenses, certifications, and work history with your application.

Willing to go through the contractor interview and the union process.

Pay shown is the Communication Technician rate as listed in the agreement. It is not a promise of a specific contractor, start date, or classification — the contractor and the agreement determine the final classification.
