Community Development Associate – Part-Time

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Pay: $23–$25/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Part-time; occasional evening and weekend availability may be required

Position Overview

We are seeking an outgoing, community-focused Community Development Associate to support outreach, engagement, and neighborhood-based programming in Philadelphia.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, building community relationships, promoting valuable resources, and supporting events and initiatives that make a meaningful local impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with residents, community leaders, businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, and local partners

  • Conduct community outreach through phone, email, in-person engagement, meetings, tabling, and neighborhood events

  • Maintain an organized database of community contacts and engagement activities

  • Develop outreach materials such as flyers, newsletters, articles, videos, and social media content

  • Promote community programs, services, resources, and events

  • Assist with planning and coordinating community events, educational programs, and neighborhood meetings

  • Support food distribution and food security initiatives

  • Track outreach efforts, enter data, and assist with reporting on program outcomes

  • Support additional community development projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in community outreach, human services, social services, or a related field

  • Experience working with diverse urban communities

  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms

  • Comfortable working independently and engaging with individuals from a variety of backgrounds

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Philadelphia neighborhoods and community resources

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

  • Experience working with community organizations and local stakeholders

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel between community locations and navigate stairs

  • Ability to stand or move throughout events and outreach activities

  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds
