    Approval: ___ Approval: __ (Executive Director of Human Resources) (Superintendent) Job Summary The Evening / Weekend Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of district properties during evening hours. This role specifically focuses on patrolling parking lots, securing vacant buildings, and providing security and assistance for after-school facility rentals and evening programs. The officer acts as a visible deterrent to vandalism and unauthorized entry on school grounds while ensuring a welcoming environment for community members utilizing district facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Patrol and Secure Grounds: o Conduct routine vehicular and foot patrols of district parking lots and grounds to deter criminal activity, vandalism, and theft. o Systematically check and secure vacant buildings to ensure all access points are locked and uncompromised. o Monitor parking areas for safety and traffic flow during evening events.

    • Facility Rental and Program Support: o Serve as the primary security contact for after-school rentals and evening programs. o Unlock and secure specific areas as required for scheduled events and ensure all visitors vacate the premises by the designated closing time (typically 9:00 PM). o Provide friendly direction and assistance to community members, staff, and guests attending evening functions.

    • Incident Response and De-escalation: o Utilize trained de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts or non-compliant behavior among visitors or facility users. o Exercise discretion and good judgment when intervening in security situations, distinguishing between minor policy infractions and serious safety threats. o Collaborate with local police and emergency responders when situations require legal intervention.

    • Administrative and Reporting: o Maintain accurate and detailed daily logs of patrols, rental usage, and security incidents. o Submit written reports to administration regarding safety concerns, property damage, or unusual occurrences.

    • Perform other duties as assigned or requested Work Requirements and Characteristics Education/Certification Requirement:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.

    Job Description

    Community Services Evening Security Officer Licensure:

    • Must possess a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record (required for patrolling lots and traveling between sites).
    • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred.

    Experience & Training:

    • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is highly preferred.
    • Documented training in de-escalation techniques and/or formal security procedures.

    Essential skills required to perform the work:

    • Knowledge of planning, evaluating, implementing, coordinating and arranging programs, activities and services
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences and volume
    • Ability to successfully collaborate with team members, school district staff and organizations
    • Ability to understand written, oral or diagram instructions

    Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices, and Software Required:

    • Operates office equipment including computer, printer, copier, multi-line phone system, and other communication devices
    • Ability to utilize multiple software, databases and systems

    Physical and Mental Requirements Physical Job Requirements:

    • Mobility: Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs; ability to patrol grounds in various weather conditions (rain, snow, cold).
    • Exertion: Ability to perform light work, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Sensory: Acute vision and hearing required for monitoring surveillance equipment and detecting safety hazards in low- light conditions.

    • Position requires flexibility and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, sometimes at the direction of more than one person

    Hazardous Working Conditions:

    • Driving conditions may vary dependent on weather
    • Customer service approach may require de-escalation
    • Most security experiences should be observation, reporting, and some interaction with the community
