The Amazon Specialized Businesses Security (SBS) organization is searching for a Compliance Specialist for its Supply Chain and Intellectual Property Security (SCIPS) team. We believe passionately that employing a diverse workforce is central to our success. We make recruiting decisions based on your experience and skills. We value your passion to discover, invent, simplify and build.

This role is responsible for conducting device inventory audits, coordinating secure destruction operations and collection events, and managing vendor relationships, with a primary operational focus on Northern US. The successful candidate will operate independently, manage competing priorities across multiple sites and programmes, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

This role is based in Seattle, with support for business activities across the wider AMER region. This position will report to the Compliance Manager (SCIPS).

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver an audit plan for device storage locations and destruction facilities in Northern US.
  • Ensure audits and inspections are carried out in accordance with Amazon policies and procedures, with on-time and high-quality deliverables.
  • Provide operational data metrics to the Compliance Manager (SCIPS) on a weekly basis, updating the destruction dashboard, project tracker, and budget tracker accordingly.
  • Support the day-to-day operation and administration of secure logistics, particularly the physical security of prototype devices and materials pending destruction.
  • Coordinate secure shipping and receiving with multiple vendors, ensuring correct labeling, handling, tracking, and packaging standards are maintained.
  • Plan, coordinate, and provide operational support for prototype device collections in locations remote from the Prototype Security regional hub, liaising with key contacts from devices teams to advise and support as necessary.
  • Conduct RFID/barcode scanning and Device Serial Number (DSN) reconciliation for prototype devices to ensure accurate inventory management before, during, and after destruction operations.
  • Ensure contractual deliverables are met by third-party destruction and guard force vendors.
  • Act as an ambassador for prototype device destruction and device tracking compliance in AMER, advising peers and customers with regards to policy, guidelines, and SOP.
  • Generate and issue audit reports and findings of irregularities, discrepancies, and deviations from prescribed procedures.
  • Proactively identify process gaps, propose improvements, and actively participate in team discussions.
  • Support efforts for prototype security awareness and training.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
