Job Title: Compounder - 3rd Shift (Spray)Job Description

This 3rd shift Compounder role focuses on accurately preparing, mixing, and processing powder and liquid ingredients using spray, homogenizing, and spray dry methods. You will work in a cross-functional, team-oriented production environment, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety guidelines to ensure high-quality batches and consistent product performance.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve and stage raw ingredients according to batch instructions, ensuring all materials are correct and available before production begins.
  • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales, following standard batch instructions and formulas for dyes and other substances.
  • Mix various ingredients, including liquids and powders, using appropriate equipment and methods such as homogenizing and spray dry processes.
  • Identify ingredients that require dilution, prepare correct dilutions, and document all raw material usage clearly and accurately.
  • Identify and melt solid ingredients using hot plates and other designated equipment, ensuring safe handling and correct processing conditions.
  • Maintain quality standards by verifying the weight and contents of raw materials before use and during batch preparation.
  • Conduct in-process batch inspections to check consistency, appearance, and other quality attributes throughout the compounding process.
  • Measure and monitor the viscosity and other physical properties of mixtures to ensure batches meet specified requirements.
  • Collect batch samples and deliver them to the laboratory for testing, following established sampling and labeling procedures.
  • Document all process events, including ingredient usage, process parameters, inspections, and deviations, in accordance with procedures and policies.
  • Follow food safety guidelines at all times, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of raw materials and finished batches.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety and sanitation protocols throughout the compounding and production process.
  • Collaborate with team members in a cross-functional environment to ensure efficient production flow and timely completion of batches.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with routine equipment checks and basic housekeeping tasks to support safe operations.
  • Wear required uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently and correctly during all work activities.

Essential Skills

  • 6 months to 1 year of compounding experience working with powders and raw materials.
  • Hands-on experience in chemical mixing, compounding, and batch making within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment and consistently following safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Ability to accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales and follow detailed batch instructions.
  • Experience handling and blending raw materials, including both liquids and powders.
  • Capability to perform in-process inspections, including checking batch consistency and measuring viscosity.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording raw material usage and documenting process events.
  • Comfort working with production equipment such as mixers, homogenizers, spray dry systems, and hot plates.
  • Commitment to following food safety guidelines and company procedures.
  • Willingness to wear a uniform and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in chemical manufacturing, food, flavor, or fragrance production is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with spray compounding and spray drying processes is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple batches or tasks during a shift.
  • Comfort working on an overnight schedule and maintaining focus and accuracy during 3rd shift hours.

Work Environment

This role operates in a production facility that follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and strict food safety and sanitation standards. You will work in a team-based, cross-functional environment where collaboration with production, quality, and other departments is common. The position is on 3rd shift, with schedules such as Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, typically from 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. You will work with chemical and food-related raw materials, including powders, liquids, and solids, using equipment such as scales, mixers, homogenizers, spray dry systems, and hot plates. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and accurate documentation. A uniform and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are required and must be worn throughout the shift.

The pay range for this position is $57200.00 - $57200.00/yr.
