Concrete Carpenter / Finisher

C&S Contracting Co., a Division of CMES, Inc.
Position Summary
C&S Contracting Co., a division of CMES, Inc., is seeking an experienced Concrete Carpenter / Finisher to join our growing team. This position supports heavy civil construction projects including bridges, structures, retaining walls, box culverts, and other concrete infrastructure throughout Georgia.
The ideal candidate has experience building concrete forms, placing reinforcing steel, pouring and finishing concrete, and working safely in a fast-paced construction environment. This individual takes pride in producing high-quality work while contributing to a collaborative, safety-focused team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build, set, align, brace, and remove concrete forms for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, layouts, and grade stakes.
  • Place, tie, and secure reinforcing steel (rebar) according to project specifications.
  • Pour, spread, screed, float, edge, trowel, and finish concrete to required tolerances.
  • Operate concrete finishing equipment including power trowels, concrete vibrators, saws, and hand tools.
  • Assist with concrete placement during pours while ensuring proper consolidation and finish quality.
  • Install anchor bolts, embeds, expansion joints, and other structural components.
  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust finishing methods to ensure proper curing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Accurately complete daily timecards and report production activities.
  • Inspect work for quality and compliance with project specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with the Foreman regarding job progress, material needs, and safety concerns.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
QualificationsExperience
  • Minimum of 3 years of concrete carpentry and/or concrete finishing experience.
  • Heavy civil, bridge, roadway, or structural concrete construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with cast-in-place concrete, form systems, and reinforcing steel preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or other construction-related certifications are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of concrete forming, placement, finishing, and curing techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate construction tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read basic construction plans and follow specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and bend throughout the workday.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment, moving machinery, and elevated work areas.
Work Environment
  • Heavy civil construction projects throughout Georgia.
  • Outdoor work in active construction environments.
  • Regular exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions.
  • Overtime, weekends, and travel may be required based on project demands.
