Position Overview

The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely performing a variety of construction duties to assist the highway utility grade crews or at various on-site plant locations.

Key Responsibilities Essential Duties and Functions

Operate equipment safely and efficiently by utilizing equipment within its designed parameters.

Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.

Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.

Keep machines clean and maintained.

Keep time and material records.

Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.

Travel to and from various locations.

Assist labor crew including shoveling of materials and daily plant operations.

Promptly communicate with paving crew on any flaws in material.

Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.

Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Regular and timely attendance.

Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

Other Duties

Uses various equipment hand and power tools.

Picks up andor delivers construction materials at job site locations.

Performs job site clean-up.

Assists with flagging and traffic control as needed.

Maintains all tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition.

Other duties as assigned per supervisor.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EducationExperience

High school diploma or general education degree GED preferred.

Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.

Work Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend instructions short correspondence and memos.

Ability to write correspondences and memos.

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Inventory and Order processing systems uses job specific computer system for ticketing and two way radio for communications.

Subject to drug testing and physical agility testing.

Must have a current and valid drivers license.
