ROXBOX is looking for a Construction Estimator to join our Houston team. We're open to a range of experience—from someone early in their estimating career who's ready to learn and grow, to an experienced estimator who can independently develop complex bids and help improve our estimating systems.
What matters most is technical aptitude, accuracy, curiosity, and the ability to independently work through complex project information to turn project requirements into accurate, buildable estimates.
What You'll Do
- Develop Cost Estimates – Prepare project estimates using internal pricing, material and labor costs, historical data, and vendor/subcontractor quotes.
- Review Drawings & Specifications – Analyze architectural, structural, and MEP documents to understand scope, materials, construction methods, and estimating requirements.
- Perform Quantity Takeoffs – Calculate materials, labor, equipment, and other project costs based on drawings and project requirements.
- Clarify Scope & Requirements – Participate in client discovery and internal project discussions to ensure scope, priorities, and budget expectations are accurately reflected in estimates.
- Gather Market Pricing – Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing, lead times, and scope information.
- Prepare & Update Bids – Build pricing breakdowns and supporting information, then revise estimates as designs and project requirements evolve.
- Manage Pricing Data – Maintain accurate and organized estimating information, cost data, vendor pricing, and project records.
- Collaborate Across Teams – Work closely with Sales, Design, Project Management, Procurement, and Production to ensure estimates reflect real-world construction requirements.
- Improve How We Estimate – As your experience grows, help refine pricing data, estimating tools, SOPs, and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
We're intentionally flexible on years of experience. You may be a developing estimator with strong construction aptitude or an experienced professional ready to hit the ground running.
- At least 1–3 years of experience in construction estimating, project management, project coordination, project engineering, or related fields (internships count)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills; Bluebeam and estimating software experience are a plus
- Analytical and detail-oriented—you notice the small things that make a big difference
- Organized and comfortable managing multiple estimates and deadlines
- Curious and resourceful—you want to understand the ‘why’ behind the numbers
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
Bonus points for experience with modular, volumetric, steel fabrication, off-site, or industrialized construction.
Compensation & Details
- $65,000 - $95,000 DOE, with compensation aligned to experience and level of estimating responsibility
- Full-time position with Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, and additional benefits
- Monday–Friday schedule

- Reports directly to the Lead Estimator
