GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a dedicated Construction and Field Survey Technician to join our team in Jackson, Wyoming. In this role, you will play an essential part in the planning, design, and construction of highway projects, helping to ensure a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming.
Working under limited supervision, Construction and Field Survey Technicians perform a wide range of duties including surveying, materials testing, and construction inspection. This position is part of a professional team responsible for the development, construction, and oversight of highway projects throughout the region. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working both in the field and in a collaborative team environment while contributing to meaningful infrastructure projects.

WYDOT conducts motor vehicle record checks to verify that candidates possess a valid drivers license.
Individuals in these positions must pass a pre-employment drug screening and/or physical and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Individuals in these positions must be available for emergency work calls at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Acceptance of an appointment to this classification signifies that the individual is aware of this requirement and will comply with it. Failure to be available for emergency work without an acceptable excuse will be grounds for immediate disciplinary action and possible dismissal.
Individuals in these must report to the department shop within 30 minutes of receiving a call.
Occasional overnight travel is required.
Individuals in these positions may be asked to obtain water certifications if necessary.
Individuals in these positions must have the ability to successfully complete the following training provided by WYDOT: Certification to operate specified equipment, Defensive Driving, First Aid/CPR certification, and Flagger certification.
Individuals must report to the department Shop within 30 minutes of receiving a call.

Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the hiring bonus
Temporary employees accepting a full-time position.
Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public.
One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive, and funds will be recouped from final pay.
Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the housing assistance
Employees must work and reside in the eligible county to receive the housing assistance. (Verification of physical address will be required.)
Temporary, time-limited duties and interim assignments in the eligible county are not eligible.
The housing assistance will be prorated based on the number of hours worked by the eligible employee in any given month, not to exceed the total assistance amount.
Temporary employees (Class Code: TP01) and contract employees (Class Code: AWEC) are not eligible to receive the housing assistance.
Employees who receive state-provided housing are not eligible to receive the housing assistance.
Employees receiving the housing assistance are not eligible for per diem travel expenses to their primary work location.
