As a team we are committed inspired and connected to make a difference in the community.  What You Will DoAs a Construction Inspector I in the Department of Public Works you will work to ensure compliance with Carroll County construction standards as well as project specifications. Reporting to the Construction Inspection Manager your role will assist other inspection staff. Through site inspections material reviews and field meetings you will support safe and proper workmanship on construction projects. Essential Duties
Perform inspections of the construction repair and alteration of roads bridges storm drain and other public facilities. Ensure methods and materials comply with construction plans and specifications.
Enforce traffic control and traffic safety regulations at project sites.
Document progress complete daily report and compile composite reports. Review all stages of construction projects.
Record material quantities and perform andor observe and document field testing for compliance with standards. Prepare sketches of completed work to document construction including verifying grades and elevations.
Attend field meetings to communicate with contractors architects and engineers to resolve issues.
Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.
Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.

High school diploma or general education diploma GED
Three or more years of related experience
A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Valid drivers license
Traffic Control certification or must obtain within six months of employment
Sediment and Erosion Control certification Maryland Department of the Environment or must obtain within six months of employment
Additional Information
May be required to work outside of standard hours.
Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
Frequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions including but not limited to chemicals noise and airborne particles.
Frequent physical activity standingwalking pushingpulling bending reaching lifting and carrying climbing steps squatting stooping kneeling and related activities.
Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
