    Position Title: Construction Intern
    Employment Status: Non-Exempt | Part-Time
    Department: Construction
    Location: 181 S. Kukui Street, Honolulu, HI 96813
    Position Overview:
    We are seeking a Construction Intern to support a variety of general construction functions within a mid-size construction and environmental federal contracting company. This internship offers hands-on experience, provides a comprehensive understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a construction professional, and serves as an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience while contributing to meaningful projects within a dynamic organization.
    Under the guidance of the Construction Administrator, the intern will assist in developing a comprehensive training program for SmartBid, the leading construction bidding platform for general contractors, including creating user-friendly training materials and documentation.
    Key Responsibilities:
    The Construction Intern will interact with and be trained in SmartBid software. This software optimizes preconstruction processes for both the company’s team and its subcontractors. The intern will learn how to streamline bid project data and improve preconstruction communications. By the end of the internship, the intern will have completed real-world tasks within SmartBid, building practical knowledge of the construction bidding process.
    Develop a SmartBid training manual using Microsoft PowerPoint. The training materials will include:
    • Setting up a project in SmartBid
    • Adding subcontractors and vendors
    • Uploading and managing project documents
    • Inviting subcontractors and vendors to bid
    • Following up with subcontractors and vendors
    • Organizing and storing subcontractor and vendor proposals
    Qualifications, Skills, and Educational Requirements:
    • Currently pursuing an undergraduate (junior or senior standing preferred) or graduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
    • Minimum of 6 months of customer service or administrative experience preferred.
    • Prior construction experience preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
