About Hardwick General Contracting

Hardwick General Contracting is a family-owned custom home builder based in Maitland, Florida. Founded in 2004, we specialize in luxury custom homes and high-end remodeling throughout Central Florida.

We are seeking a Construction Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting residential construction projects. This paid position provides an opportunity to learn jobsite operations, construction sequencing, project documentation, safety practices, and quality standards while working alongside experienced construction professionals.

Students, recent graduates, trade school students, and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. Previous construction experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily jobsite setup, organization, housekeeping, and protection of completed work.
• Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
• Learn to interpret construction plans and understand project sequencing.
• Support material tracking, delivery inspections, and inventory documentation.
• Assist with progress photos, daily logs, and construction software applications.
• Help prepare for inspections, walkthroughs, and punch-list activities.
• Perform assigned field tasks and material handling under supervision and after appropriate training.
• Communicate project updates, questions, and concerns to field supervisors.
• Maintain professional working relationships with team members and trade partners.

Qualifications

• Interest in construction, construction management, building science, or a related field.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Dependable attendance and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors on active construction sites and perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Basic smartphone or tablet skills for documentation and communication.
• Reliable transportation to assigned jobsites.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history if driving is an assigned responsibility.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Previous construction or hands-on experience is helpful but not required.

Compensation and Schedule

• Hourly compensation: $18-$22 per hour.
• Part-time position, Monday-Friday, minimum of 6 hours daily.
• Scheduling flexibility may be available around academic commitments, provided a consistent work schedule is maintained.
