About the Role:


KILO ENGINEERING LLC is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Construction Material Testing Technician to join their team in Marine on Saint Croix, MN. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company and work on a variety of projects, observe the built world, create safer and compliant buildings and developments.

Responsibilities:

• Complete new hire safety and skill training 
• Show up every day, on time, with the proper tools to complete the day's tasks
• Perform basic technician-level field and lab tasks with limited supervision after training
• Perform intermediate technician level field and lab tests with supervision after training
• Standard field testing includes:
  • Soils - compactions, dynamic cone penetrometers, proofrolls, soil sampling
  • Concrete - slump, air content, temperature, test cylinders, 
  • Masonry - visual observations, mortar cubes, grout test prisms
  • Reinforcing steel - visual observations
• Standard lab testing includes:
  • Soils - proctors, moisture contents, sieves, plasticity, resistivity
  • Concrete - gradations, unit weight, compressive strength
  • Masonry - compressive strength
• Optional field training as a drill rig helper
• Maintain detailed notes from project inspections and complete standardized field reports on a daily basis
• Maintain communication with field project superintendents and the company office for scheduling 
• Communicate clearly with clients about the findings of special inspections, including any non-conforming work 

Requirements:

• High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 0–3 years of experience in construction observation or construction trades
• Valid U.S.-issued driver's license with acceptable driving record
• MnDOT, ACI, ICC, PTI, or other inspection-related certifications a plus
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and email 
• Suitable written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client interaction
• Ability to perform fieldwork in varying outdoor conditions and travel to project sites as needed
• Ability to travel to jobsites, including daily trips around the Minneapolis metro and occasional trips to outstate Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, or the Dakotas as needed for project testing
