Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our MEP ( Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design team. This role is critical to the successful delivery of energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC and plumbing solutions across projects in the municipal/aviation, education, healthcare, and commercial office sectors. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as both a technical subject matter expert and a team mentor, managing the full project lifecycle and supporting the growth of our client's organization. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as the Engineer of Record for mechanical and plumbing disciplines on assigned projects.
Provide technical and managerial leadership to the MEP design team from project initiation through completion.
Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and staffing plans to ensure on-time, within-budget, high-quality project delivery.
Lead the design, development, and verification of HVAC and plumbing systems, including performing and reviewing load calculations.
Oversee Construction Administration (CA) activities: review submittals and shop drawings, respond to RFIs, attend and lead CA meetings, and perform field observations/site visits.
Plan and execute detailed project phases, ensuring all work meets quality standards and client expectations.
Lead design and construction meetings with stakeholders, providing clear guidance and ensuring effective decision-making.
Mentor and guide junior team members; assign and review design tasks as needed; provide objective, periodic feedback to support career development and annual reviews.
Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts and fee proposals; monitor contract compliance throughout the project.
Foster relationships with clients in collaboration with business development teams to support repeat and new business opportunities.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Current Professional Engineering (PE) License.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Professional Engineer.
Ability to obtain PE licensure in Texas if not already held.
10+ years of MEP design experience, including work in municipal/aviation, education, healthcare, and commercial office environments.
7+ years of experience managing MEP design projects.
At least 3 years of direct project management experience.
A minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience leading an MEP design team.
Valid Texas driver's license, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and ability to successfully pass a background check (criminal, education, and drug screening).
