Construction Project Manager (Commercial & Institutional)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead construction projects across commercial, public, and institutional sectors, including K-12. The Project Manager will oversee project delivery from pre-construction through closeout, coordinating mechanical and electrical disciplines, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and deliver projects on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of projects in commercial, public, institutional, and K-12 environments.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical design, installation, and commissioning activities; review shop drawings and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, change orders, and procurement to meet financial targets and reduce risk.
- Serve as primary client and stakeholder contact, maintaining strong relationships and providing regular project updates and meetings.
- Oversee subcontractor selection, performance, and coordination to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, verify work, and enforce safety and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, resolve issues promptly, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, schedules, meeting minutes, and closeout deliverables.
- Mentor and lead project teams, assigning tasks, tracking performance, and fostering collaboration across disciplines.
- Support business development and proposal efforts by contributing technical guidance, scope development, and cost estimates.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience with a General Contractor
- Proven experience with commercial, public, institutional, and/or K-12 projects and understanding of their unique requirements.
- Proven experience with Tenant Improvements or Remodels
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, MEP coordination, commissioning, and shop drawing review.
- Proficiency with project management and construction tools (MS Project, Procore, Primavera) and familiarity with BIM/Revit.
- Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and client-management skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required.
