Construction Safety Manager

Job Title: Safety Manager (Commercial & Federal Projects)

Location: [Petersburg,VA] (Travel Required) Employment Type: [Full-Time]

Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Safety Manager with a strong track record supporting large-scale commercial and federal (DoD/government) construction projects. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining compliance, driving safety initiatives, and fostering a proactive safety culture across project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage site-specific safety programs
• Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and all federal safety standards
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments
• Lead safety meetings, trainings, and orientations
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective/preventative actions
• Maintain detailed safety records and reporting
• Partner with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to uphold safety expectations

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of construction safety experience, with a focus on large commercial projects
• Proven experience supporting federal/DoD/government projects
• Demonstrated career stability with progressive experience in safety roles
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and EM 385-1-1 standards
• OSHA 30 required; CHST, CSP, or similar certifications preferred
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on high-value or multi-site projects
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Degree in Safety, Construction Management, or related field
