Construction Superintendent: Complex Commercial Builds
- Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL
- Pay: $130,000 – $175,000 per year
- Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time (occasional weekends)

About The Role
ICI is seeking highly skilled Construction Superintendents who are proven leaders ready to take full command of complex commercial projects with confidence and precision. You'll oversee complete builds in the Education, Restaurant, Retail, and Auto Dealership sectors — managing everything from schedule coordination and subcontractor oversight to quality control and safety compliance. This is a senior-level position where you'll own the jobsite, drive results, and lead teams through ground-up commercial construction. You'll report to the General Superintendent and spend your days coordinating field operations, managing schedules with project management software like Procore and Microsoft Project, and ensuring every phase of construction meets ICI's high standards. Expect regular travel (25-50%) to project sites across the region.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and manage all field operations for complex commercial builds from preconstruction through closeout
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors, ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
- Manage daily schedules using Procore, Microsoft Project, and other project management software
- Conduct safety meetings, enforce OSHA regulations, and maintain a zero-incident jobsite culture
- Review plans and specifications, coordinate RFIs, and resolve field conflicts efficiently
- Track project progress through daily reports, photos, and documentation using Microsoft Office tools
- Communicate daily with owners, architects, engineers, and internal teams via email and project platforms
- Ensure compliance with all building codes, specifications, and contract requirements
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on complex commercial projects
- Proven track record building in Education, Restaurant, Retail, and/or Auto Dealership sectors
- OSHA 30 certification (required)
- Solid computer skills including project management software, Microsoft Office, and email communication
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly (25-50%) to project sites
- US work authorization required (visa sponsorship not available)
Nice To Have
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms
- Additional certifications in construction safety or project management
- Background in ground-up commercial construction and tenant improvements
