CEG Solutions is hiring a Regional Practice Leader to grow our direct-to-market consulting engineering practice across the Denver and Mountain West region. This is a seller-doer role for a licensed engineer who is energized by the full arc of the client relationship — finding new opportunities, winning the work, leading delivery, and growing it into something larger over time.
You'll be a principal face of CEG's consulting engineering division in the region: opening doors with new clients, shaping technical scopes and proposals, and leading high-quality engineering spanning work that includes MEP design, energy and plant master planning, capital planning, energy efficiency studies and audits, and monitoring-based commissioning and retro-commissioning. Backed by CEG's Denver- and Boulder-based engineering team, you'll have the talent and infrastructure to deliver — and the mandate to expand both the client base and the team itself as the practice grows.
Why This Role Is Different
• Build the market, not just the project: You're not just executing assignments — you're the person identifying how and where CEG should be growing in the Mountain West and bringing those opportunities home.
• Own the relationship end-to-end: Roughly 25% networking and selling, 75% delivery. You'll win the work, lead it through execution, and deepen the client relationship along the way — backed by a strong existing team behind you to execute.
• Real regional leadership: You'll be a principal face of CEG's consulting engineering division in the Denver and Mountain West market, with autonomy to shape how we go to market and direct working access with firm leadership.
• Tip of the spear for CEG: You'll lead a consulting practice that stands on its own — and you'll do it with intention, focusing the practice on clients and markets where CEG's design-build capabilities create a natural next step. You won't be selling design-build, but you'll be a key part of how those opportunities take shape.
• Grow the team you lead: As the practice expands, so does your team. You'll help define hiring needs, attract talent, and develop the engineers who deliver alongside you.
• Own the business, not just the work: You'll hold P&L responsibility for the consulting engineering practice in the region — accountable for its growth, profitability, and long-term health, not just project execution.
What You'll Do
1) Drive Business Development and Market Growth
• Identify, pursue, and win new consulting engineering opportunities across the Denver and Mountain West region.
• Build and nurture a network of clients, partners, and industry contacts that generates a steady pipeline of work.
• Develop proposals, scopes, and pricing that position CEG to win — and that set projects up for successful delivery.
• Represent CEG at industry events, client meetings, and in the regional engineering community.
• Target clients and markets strategically — pursuing consulting opportunities that build a healthy book of business in their own right, with an eye toward those where CEG's design-build capabilities position the firm well for future engagements.
2) Lead Project Delivery
• Serve as the technical and project lead on the work you bring in — owning scope, schedule, budget, and quality on larger or more complex engagements, and handing day-to-day project management off to other team members on smaller projects, particularly as the team grows.
• Direct the engineering effort, leveraging CEG's Denver- and Boulder-based team to deliver excellent, defensible technical work.
• Apply engineering judgment and consulting experience to solve client problems with practical, well-reasoned solutions.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in technical decisions, ensuring the work meets CEG's standards and the client's expectations.
3) Manage and Grow Client Relationships
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the life of each engagement and beyond.
• Build trust through responsiveness, technical credibility, and clear communication — turning first projects into long-term relationships.
• Identify follow-on opportunities within existing client accounts and expand CEG's footprint within them over time.
• Continuously prospect for new clients in the region while deepening relationships with existing ones.
• Recognize when a client's needs align with CEG's broader capabilities, and serve as a trusted bridge to the design-build division when the moment is right — supporting the firm's pull-through success while keeping the consulting relationship credible and client-first.
4) Build and Develop the Team
• Partner with leadership to identify hiring needs and recruit additional engineering talent as the practice grows.
• Mentor and develop engineers on the team — providing technical guidance, professional coaching, and growth opportunities.
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative team culture grounded in technical excellence, client service, and continuous learning.
• Help shape the long-term vision and capabilities of CEG's consulting engineering practice in the region.
5) Strengthen the Practice
• Hold P&L responsibility for the regional consulting engineering practice — managing utilization, profitability, and reinvestment to build a sustainable, growing business.
• Contribute to the development of standards, tools, and processes that improve the quality and consistency of consulting engineering deliverables.
• Share insights from the market — competitive dynamics, client needs, emerging opportunities — to inform the firm's strategy.
• Champion CEG's value proposition in the Mountain West and help establish the firm as a trusted partner in the region.
What You'll Get
• Ownership and influence: Real authority to shape how CEG builds its consulting engineering presence in one of the country's most dynamic regional markets.
• A platform to deliver: An established Denver- and Boulder-based engineering team behind you, with the technical depth to win and execute meaningful work.
• Direct access to leadership: A seat at the table with firm leadership, with visibility into and influence over strategic direction.
• A leadership path: Room to grow as the practice grows — with the opportunity to build and lead a regional team you helped recruit.
• Interesting, varied work: Direct-to-market consulting engagements that span a range of clients, building types, and technical challenges.
• Entrepreneurial environment: The autonomy of running a regional practice with the support and resources of an established firm.
