Job Title: Collections Specialist
Pay: $25 - $27 per hour/ DOE
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm on-site
Start Date: ASAP- this is a temporary role, covering for a LOA
Must be able to clear a background, credit and drug screen

As a Collections Specialist, you'll be working closely with your team to manage delinquent accounts, recover funds, and deliver excellent service to members and customers. Your efforts will help uphold the company's reputation while ensuring compliance with all regulations.

What You'll Do
As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for:

• Making outbound and receiving inbound collection calls to resolve past-due accounts on various consumer loans including auto, credit cards, HELOCs, and personal loans
• Negotiating repayment plans that are fair and tailored to each member’s situation
• Utilizing skip tracing tools and resources like CLEAR and LexisNexis to locate members and assets
• Managing repossession and recovery activities in coordination with internal teams and recovery partners
• Following up on accounts involving bankruptcy and applying appropriate procedures in compliance with regulations
• Maintaining detailed records of all collection activities, member communications, and account statuses
• Escalating urgent matters and member concerns to management promptly
• Providing excellent service to members, even in sensitive or challenging situations
• Preparing monthly reports on account activity and collection progress

What You'll Bring The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2+ years of consumer loan collection experience in a financial institution, bank, or credit union setting
• Knowledge of collection practices, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with skip tracing, repossessions, and recovery processes preferred
• Ability to handle high-volume call work with professionalism and accuracy
• Discretion in managing confidential member information
• Familiarity with collection systems, power dialers, and databases like CLEAR and LexisNexis preferred
