If you love writing, interviewing people, and sharing stories that matter, we'd love to have you on the team.POSITION SUMMARY:In this part-time Content Writer/Journalist role on our Marketing & Communications team, you will create engaging writing and video content for social media, the Dixie Tech website, email, video, and local and regional media. You will report to the Marketing Director and work daily with the marketing team. You will also interact regularly with students, alumni, employees, employers, and community partners for interviews and events, and occasionally with local media. Every story you write as our content writer and journalist helps future students see what is possible at Dixie Tech. This position is on campus only in St. George, Utah.PAY AND HOURS:Pay: $24 per hourPart-time, up to 28 hours per weekNo benefits are provided beyond the hourly payKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Writing and StorytellingFind and develop stories from across Dixie Technical CollegeInterview students, alumni, employees, employers, and community partnersWrite articles, news stories, and press releases for distribution to local and regional mediaWrite social media posts, website content, emails, and video scriptsVideo and EventsConduct and participate in on-camera interviewsAssist with short-form video and social media contentCover College events and activitiesTeamwork and PoliciesWork with the Marketing & Communications team to develop engaging contentEdit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, and consistencyComply with Dixie Tech policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:EducationHigh school diploma or equivalentWriting and StorytellingExcellent writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skillsAbility to write professional news articles and press releases for media distributionCreative, curious, and able to identify good storiesUnderstanding of social media and digital contentCommunication and OrganizationComfortable speaking and interviewing people on cameraStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods while covering campus events and interviewsAbility to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairsAbility to sit and work at a computer for extended periodsAbility to lift and carry up to 20 poundsEmployment is subject to a criminal background check and drug testing.
