    Job Description

Continuous Improvement Industrial Engineer, High-Mix CNC

Imagine this: a high-mix CNC cell with mills and lathes where setups vary, parts queue, and schedules slip. You step in—confirming kitting, staging materials, tightening standard work, and updating ERP data—until flow stabilizes and execution becomes predictable. That’s the challenge you’ll own at Atlas Fibre across precision machining, fabrication, and light assembly operations.

    Your mission

Accelerate throughput and reliability from order release to shipment by synchronizing people, process, and systems. Partner closely with Production, Production Control, Cell Leads, Quality, Tooling, and Manufacturing Engineering to improve work readiness, kitting, material flow, ERP accuracy, visual control, and execution stability.

    What you will do

    • Champion 6S: lead and sustain workplace organization and visual control across production areas.
    • Codify the work: create and maintain standard work for flow, setup preparation, kitting, material movement, handoffs, and repeatable execution.
    • Cut setup time: drive SMED by enhancing pre-stage activity, reducing variation, and improving point-of-use readiness.
    • Guarantee readiness: confirm required inputs are staged, visible, and prepared before work is released to execution.
    • Measure what matters: establish time-based baselines for setup, wait, and queue; quantify work vs. wait; track plan vs. actual and budget-to-actual variance.
    • Make systems tell the truth: work in ERP to keep order status, labor reporting, routings, inventory transactions, and execution tracking accurate.

    What you bring

    • At least 5 years in a CNC machining environment (mills, lathes, or other high-mix preferred).
    • Proven record with 6S, standard work, SMED, material flow, time studies, work measurement, and process documentation.
    • ERP experience preferred: order status, routings, labor reporting, inventory transactions, and production visibility.
    • Clear, practical documentation skills that production teams use and trust.
    • Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (or related) preferred; equivalent experience considered.

    Who you are

A hands-on, shop-floor partner who observes, documents facts, sees waste quickly, improves flow, and builds standards that elevate consistency, visibility, and confidence.
