Contract Research, Synthetic Chemistry

Our Cambridge based client is seeking a highly motivated chemist to join a growing discovery research team focused on advancing innovative therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career scientist to contribute directly to small molecule drug discovery in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute small molecule synthesis using modern organic and transition metal chemistry techniques.
• Monitor reactions and assess compound quality using NMR, LC-MS, and related analytical methods.
• Optimize reaction conditions, evaluate new synthetic routes, and manage reagent procurement.
• Accurately document, analyze, and present experimental results.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional scientists to advance research programs.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemistry or a related field with 1-3+ years of academic and/or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry, methodology development, or process chemistry.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with standard synthetic chemistry techniques.
• Strong knowledge of organic chemistry and experience with LC-MS instrumentation.
• Creative problem-solver with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Interest in drug discovery and pharmaceutical development.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience utilizing AI tools in day-to-day work; advanced applications are a plus.
• Ability to work on-site and participate in in-person team activities.
